PORTRAITS AND SELF PORTRAITS PT 1

BEST TIPS:

-Play with Eye Contact:It is amazing how much the direction of your subject’s eyes can impact an image. Most portraits have the subject looking down the lens – something that can create a real sense of connection between a subject and those viewing the image.

- Introduce a Prop:Add a prop of some kind into your shots and you create another point of interest that can enhance your shot.

-Take Unfocused Shots:As photographers we have ‘sharp focus’ drummed into us as an ultimate objective to achieve in our work – but sometimes lack of focus can create shots with real emotion, mood and interest.

ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAITS:

I like this photo because of the vibrant flowers framing the men,and i chose it because it was unique amongst the other ones that                    popped up in the search engine

I like this photo because its humours yet pretty at the same time             with the vines wrapped around                              him, flowers in the background. And i chose it for the same reason.

PHOTOGRAPHY SELF PORTRAIT:

I like that this photo tells a story other than there is a man at breakfast,if you pay attention.
and i chose it for that reason, and the old time diner setting

i like that this photo it shot with a film camera,
and i chose it because i thought the lighting was interesting.

CASUAL PORTRAIT:

i like that this photo could have been bare if it wasn't for the different lights shinning on her.And i selected it for that reason,                and the colors compliment each other

I like the simplicity of this photo,i chose it because i love Obama.

PLANNING PORTRAIT ASSIGNMENT:
i will shoot a variety of people,(friends, family strangers).I would like to shoot indoors and out.And to make the shots intresting i will consider the portrait tips,& add the photography rules.

Africa and Abandoned theme parks

AFRICA
1. My reaction to what I saw the photos was shock. He captured the true beauty of the animals and showed them in a way like nothing else. Each photo of the animals showed immensely moving emotion and clarity of the various animals.

2.
3. This photo shows self strength. The elephant is by itself but shows no sign of worry. To the right of the elephant is  dust, and the other side, clarity. I like the contrasting of the back round and i think it shows both optimism and pessimism within this one photo.

4. He used simplicity, because you can clearly see the subject is the elephant.

5. Nick used a Pentax 67ll, it is important so he can capture the clarity and emotion in each of his pictures.

6. His interest in taking these photos is capturing the animal in their natural state. No media, nothing staged, just the animal doing its natural things.

7. He hopes he can make the world more aware with his photos, and the message behind them.

ABANDONED THEME PARKS

1.) I would have liked to visit Six Flags New Orleans. With a old diner in the park, and old wooden roller coasters, the park asa whole had a old time vibe to it that i find very intriguing. The buildings within the park are something i find interesting. Its as that within the park there is a small old town further progressing the old time feel i admire.
2.)

3.)

-Abandoned sky scrappers
-Old ghost towns
-Marfa Texas
-The streets of Paris,London,& NewYork City
-Old art exhibits

4.)Marfa Texas,

5.)I think it would be fun to document Marfa Texas because i like the aesthetic of the town. Marfa is a  small town in west Texas in the middle of nowhere, But what strikes me about it is that its so different from its surroundings. Its a small minimalist ,stripped town town on the outside ,but the buildings on the inside often hold art, and local crafts, which i think is an amazing way to keep the town amazing treasures hidden and kept to minimum in person viewing. I could pictures of the art in the town, the buildings, the infamous Prada store, the locals, the tourists, the glamping ,etc...

6.)To travel to Marfa and take pictures all i would need is a camera, money, and transportation.

Mural Project & Great Black and White Photographers 3

MURAL PROJECT-

1. What theme, that we could take here at school and think of one for OFF campus too, could we do a series of these panels to place around the school?

A theme for school could be various nature. And A theme for off campus could be fashion.

2. Should we use phones only, or should we open it up to our regular cameras for those people that don't have camera phones?

regular cameras.

3. Where would you want to put the mural on campus?

I would want to put the mural in the fine arts building.

GREAT BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHERS 3 - Max Waldman

1.) What first caught your eye while looking at your photographers photos? Is there something in particular about their photos that made you want to choose them? Post the images with your writing.
The beauty the photos contain.I like that his photos almost have one subject. His photos have a renaissance old timing beauty to them ,which is extremely captivating to me. And the fact that most of Waldman's photographs are of woman makes me appreciate them more ,because it shows appreciation for women's beauty in a pure way.

2.) Look at those 2 photos you posted last time in the assignment Great Black and White Photographers Part 2. Use your five senses to tell me more about those photos. Answer them on your blog.

(as if i was next to the subject)

I see.. A girl in a difficult looking dance pose. Her long dress and point shoes on her body, with her head bent back and her legs in the shape of a 4.
I smell..The dancers sweat form holding her different poses.
I hear..The sound of the photographers camera going off, capturing the dancers pose.
I taste..Nothing but the air of the studio myself , the dancer, and Max Waldman are in.
I feel..the back drop under my feet.

3.) Finally, what would you like to create to show the world your great photographer. Ideas include, posters, power points, a blog, etc. You tell me what you would like to create so we can come up with a plan to share your thoughts and ideas about your photographer with your classmates and with the rest of the school.

I would like to create a power point to display Max Waldman and his photographs. In each slide i would like to categorise his different strong points in photography, best and most popular photos, personal favorites , and facts about Waldman himself.

Great Black and White Photographers part 2

Max Waldman
 Natalia Makarova by Max Waldman

firebird by Max Waldman
biography:
Max Walman was born in 1919 in Brooklyn New York ,too two Romanian parents.
At the age of eight his father died for reasons unknown.
With 5 kids ,Max's mother was unable to raise and afford 5 kids on her own and decided to put
them into a orphanage.
Waldman received his education from the Buffalo State Teacher's College and the Albright Art School. He later studied at the Art Students League ,where he studied sculpting.
With his education under his belt ,Waldman became a successful commercial photographer specializing in industrial, fashion and commercial photography. His photography had a very simplistic style to it that  made it very distinct to others.Walmans photography was always black&white, nude, of dancers, or theater arts.
Max's photography was very inspired by classical art, living,& aesthetic.  His photos had a lot of philosophical back round to them , and were heavily influenced by art history and poetry. Giving them the timeless and simplistic beauty they have.
Through his career Waldman had many amazing photography highlights. Like he was once asked by TIME magazine to shoot pictures of Natalia Makarova, work in the Civil Conservation Corps, and was able to educate students at universities about photography.
Waldman died at the age of 61 on March 1,1981.Now we can find Max Walman's photographs at some the worlds most famous museums ,like the MoMA in new york city.
