selfie vs. self potrait

What is a selfie? a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media.
What is a self portrait?a portrait of an artist produced or created by that artist.
Is there a difference? If so, what? theres really no difference in the end product, but the process to get there is different
What style do you prefer? self portraits
Is one more valuable/important than the other? Why? i believe self portraits are more valuable, because its a longer process and can be considered as art.

Self portraits and selfies in the end have the same ending product, a photograph of the person whom took it. But the process is incomparable.Though the selfie is convenient and updated, a self portrait holds more value. The self portrait has history, and a process of evolving from paint, to film, to now digital.

The selfie has been a recent of the last 5 years or so ,and compared to a self portrait seem similar.
Now in social media era a person is judged by their profile picture, which almost always a selfie, because now a days having someone take a photo of you or taking time to take a self portrait is 'too difficult'. As well as ruining a art form ,i believe selfies have created a harsher judgement from one person to another.Selfies have formed their own form of critique/culture that include having a good angle, lighting, and your face looking good ,or now 'on fleek'.
Even though i personally do not compare a selfie to self portrait for many reasons, does not mean i don't see the good in them. I understand that they are convenient, and fun at times.

Now personally ,i appreciate a self portrait. In the Social media world we live in, i feel like everyone desires everything to be quick. It's a true shame that the rarity of finding a person who prefers self portraits over a selfie is so small. Sure its a longer process, but they've come a long way to what they were now. Self portraits have came from icons like Frida Kahlo painting her self to distract herself from heartbreak, film camera self portraits in the mirror, to where we are now having advanced digital cameras with view finders to help us and make the process easy.

Overall self portraits are my preferred style. They are comparable is some ways, but i think the beauty in the art and time it takes for a self portraits is something that selfies cant compare to.

Welcome Back!

PART 1

i love this photo because it embodies how i hope politics and the world look like one day.
Here we see peace between two different people.President Obama
is African american, male, tall, and finishing his presidency. While
Hillary Clinton is white, female, short, and trying to start her presidency.
Though these two people are different they still support one another.

i like this photo because is shows how music can bring a large
audience of all sorts of people together in one room to enjoy
one topic.

im drawn to this photo because it shows what kind of distraught a good majority
of america was with the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

PART 2

1. What was the best song of 2016?

This Town by Niall Horan in my opinion is the best song on 2016.
This being Niall's first solo song after being in One Direction, and it toping the 100 chart of 2016
at number 7 is extremely impressive.Along with the song having a good tune for a slow song, it also has niall's soothing voice to sing it.

2. What was the best movie of 2016?

I think Finding Dory is the best movie of 2016.
This movie corresponded with Disney's older movie Finding Nemo that came out in 2003.
When i saw this movie i laughed, smiled, and cried. It really got all my emptions movie ,like a good movie should. It was a great family movie thats good for all ages.

3. What was the most important news story of the year?

'Trump wins U.S. presidential Election' is easily the most important news story of 2016.
When Trump won the election in 2016 nearly half of america was disappointed, sad, and scared for what his next four years as president will affect America. So many citizens shocked at the electoral colleges' stupidity for electing a man with such vital thoughts on whats wrong and right.

4. Who was the most important person of 2016 in your opinion?

Hillary Clinton was the most important person of 2016.Hillary was the first women to
be elected as a representative for a major political party. She may have lost the election, but her legacy and stance for women's rights will continue to be shown throughout history.

5. What was the biggest sports OR entertainment story OR sports/entertainment person of 2016?

Harry Styles was the biggest entertainment person of 2016.In 2016 Harry had departed from
his successful band One Direction for some time off.During his time off last year,Harry managed to shoot a movie called 'Dunkirk' directed by Christopher Nolan that is supposed to release in 2017,and write music with big artists like Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande, and contribute took big foundations like 'he for she' .

PART 3

1. Tell me what is the one thing that happened on your holiday that you will remember? It can be a trip, a family visit, a present, something fun.
my sister announced she is pregnant while my family was all together around the christmas tree
2. What are your resolutions for the 2017 year?to be healthier

3. What are you looking forward to in 2017? getting my driver'sd licences and starting my junior year of high school.
